The Bottom line: Hilarious! laugh over laugh from beginning to end.
The good: Not the average comedy, is really something never seen before.
The bad: Most of the jokes are sex based, and bad and crazy references to the Bible, some people might feel offended.
I was literally hearing my neck cracking with every laugh it was really what I needed after a stressful week. Tons of laughs that suits well for anyone.
A bunch of comedians together facing the end of the world, that’s something never seen before. We are used to the typical apocalyptic movie where a group of people tries to survive and there is a hero, a coward, a hot chick, etc, etc, etc, but here, here you have a bunch of idiots struggling to survive and having no idea of what is happening. No clue, no idea, and no plan so they are acting all random. The best part is that these “idiots” are comedians that we know and they are performing as themselves.
Something great about this movie is that most of the time these guys are making fun of themselves and that worked very well for the movie, it was really funny.
The main group is formed by James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel and Craig Robinson, but there are a lot of funny cameos along the movie since Paul Rudd, Rihanna, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin), the beautiful Emma Watson, even Channing Tatum was there and many, many more.
Michael Cera, you might remember him from Juno, that guy wasn’t part of the main group but he was just hilarious. Another brilliant participation was Craig Robinson we have always seen him as a secondary character but here you get to know him more, and the guy is really funny.
If you don’t like the “sex jokes” this is not your movie and if you feel offended by some misinterpretations of the Bible you won’t like it either, although, as a christian I must say that I didn’t feel uncomfortable because everything was a joke and besides those guys knew nothing about the Bible, they were talking very superficial.
Finally, somehow, somewhere inside the movie and reading between lines we can even get a positive message from “This is The End.” Put attention and you’ll see what I’m talking about right now.
SPOILER beyond this point, I can’t leave without mention this, I was laughing out very loud at the end when I saw the Backstreet Boys performing everybody, all the people in the room was laughing, laughing and clapping. The finale is very awesome.
Definitely the best comedy I’ve seen this year.
